As the Community Fundraiser for East Sussex and South Kent, my role is to organise all public collections in the area throughout the year and particularly during the Great Daffodil Appeal, the charity’s flagship fundraising campaign, which involves getting permission from shops/ businesses/ councils to collect; recruiting volunteers to man the collections; making logistical arrangements for the day of the collection; and ensuring money is paid in by volunteers following the collection. I am also responsible for putting collection tins/ boxes of daffodil pins out on shop counters; managing a very busy workload; working towards and delivering against an income budget; writing reports; recruiting volunteers and building relationships with existing volunteers in order to maximise their fundraising potential; being the first point of contact for anyone who is fundraising on behalf of the charity; maintaining a good knowledge of the charity’s services and policies.

Assisting with the running of the Community Development team; leading in the organisation of fundraising initiatives including the charity's annual creative writing competition and awards evening; liaising with external fundraisers and assisting them with the organisation of fundraising events; writing awards nominations and funding bids; creating marketing materials for upcoming events; updating the West Kent Mind website; assisting with the delivery of workshops about mental health to local schools; researching potential new methods of fundraising; communicating with the public, council members, local businesses and others by phone and e-mail; completing any other tasks that were required.

Interacting with customers, ensuring that everyone was satisfied with their experience, working well in a busy and stressful environment, running the bar during the afternoon, efficient use of the till, keeping the pub clean and tidy, use of coffee machine taking phone reservations and completing any other tasks that were required.

Stewarding at their Starlight Walk, Assisting with collecting funds at Sheffield Train Station when they had a band playing, helping to run and encouraging the public to participate in their ‘game cube’ event at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Helping the public with any enquiries, maintaining a good knowledge of the festival site, being prepared to deal with emergency situations, assisting with medical situations, ensuring that no-one climbed on the barriers surrounding the speakers.

Summarising daily blogs from guides visiting foreign countries as part of the ‘Gold’ scheme; Creating a poster to advertise the ‘Gold’ programme; finding possible venues for upcoming events; checking spreadsheets; drafting a letter to invite members to an upcoming event.

Voluntary work planning and organising the Christmas party at Leonard Cheshire Disability Home.Assisting with the planning of activities; gathering and preparing resources needed; running the event; leading activities.

Communicate with other staff members and a range of customers so that the restaurant ran smoothly during service; Working under pressure within a kitchen environment during busy periods; Undertook whatever ad hoc tasks were necessary.

Running arts and crafts stall and assisting children; taking performers to the stage; assisting performers in getting in and out of costumes.

Stewarding at performances in the evenings, assisting the heads of finance, marketing and admin with their duties, creating posters for upcoming shows.
