I am currently a junior at West Virginia University studying Health & Well Being through the College of Applied Human Science. I have been accepted to the WVU Accelerated Nursing program & will begin working towards my BSN in January. I am an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a sorority here on campus, and have also successfully completed the Honors Foundation Program through the WVU Honors College. I currently work as a Clinical Associate at Ruby Memorial Hospital on the Hospice/Med-surg unit, where I have been able to gain valuable experience as what it is like to work as a health care professional. In my time spent as a CNA at Ruby Memorial Hospital, I have developed valuable skillsets relevant to the work of a nurse. I assist in direct patient bedside care and have been able to demonstrate my competencies in communication & collaboration, bedside manner, efficient time management, professionalism, attention to detail, physical stamina, critical thinking, and knowledge of basic medical procedures. In the workplace, I strive to be positive, outgoing, and create a supportive environment for both my coworkers and others. I have been exposed to many different types of nursing including trauma, med-surg, hospice, cardiovascular, and intensive/critical care, and believe this has helped shape me into a more knowledgeable and well-rounded worker, student, and individual.I have also obtained certifications in Basic Life Support, Workplace Violence, HIPPA, Title IX, DEI, Infection Control, and Child Abuse Prevention.As an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, I have had wonderful opportunities to give back to the community and help others in need through a variety of service and philanthropic events. I also had the opportunity to take on a leadership position within our organization as Public Relations Director. I have demonstrated characteristics such as responsibility, accountability, creativity, organization, communication, and collaboration by planning & hosting meetings, delegating tasks, and managing finances. I have also been recognized by our chapter for my involvement within our organizaton and on campus, as well as academic excellence.
