In my second year of studying Law, I’ve taken on the role of a student mentor, where I provide personalised guidance to first year Law students. I regularly meet with my mentees to plan and deliver tailored sessions, offering academic support and advice on navigating university life. My role involves fostering a positive learning environment, helping them.

On Tuesday 20th February 2024, I attended an online commercial awareness workshop with trainee solicitors from Allen & Ovary. This session helped me to develop my commercial awareness skills and gave me a deeper understanding of the crucial topic. I learnt ways in which I can enhance my commercial awareness, through regularly reading the Financial Times.

I have attended Cardiff Crown Court several times both with the Bar Society and individually. We heard numerous cases which gave me an insight into how the courts operate and also observe court speech and etiquette.

I attended the annual Diversity and Inclusion event on the 11th December 2023. This event aimed to promote and celebrate diversity in the legal profession. We listened to guest speakers from firms such as Clifford Chance, Freshfields and Reed Smith.

I gained an insight into the finance profession through some summer work experience with a local accounting firm. I became proficient with the core features of Xero, an accounting software and was then able to develop an expertise in tax compliance by ensuring income and expenditure records in Xero adhered to tax regulations and guild lines, minimising.

I worked at a local pub alongside studying my A-levels and provided 5* customer service through my excellent verbal communication skills. I saved my money over the 2 years of working here to help fund my 8 months of backpacking around South East Asia from October 2022- May 2023.
