Operational Support System (OSS) Admin for the Network Operations Center (NOC) ongoing development of tools that provide support for network monitoring systems including NetSmart, SolarWinds and Calix in an agile DevOps environment. The NOC provides remote monitoring of live networks throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.Responsible for customization of Monolith software, a vendor neutral Network Management System (NMS), using Perl and MySQL. Create and manage vendor and device specific rules files that interpret SNMP and Syslog traps, and email notifications. By improving the intelligence of the Monolith software, the rules code transforms traps into human readable management reports that are used to streamline network support. The code updates FNC databases and builds a more comprehensive picture of our customers’ networks and FNC networks.Responsible for seeking out and programming automations and efficiencies using Perl, Javascript, MySQL, CSS, TemplateToolkit and Catalyst on backend server, hosted applications and websites. Additionally responsible for the automation of metrics and reports.

Standardized the code on a live system (Monolith) using Perl and MySQL. Working on a live, NOC wide, core system and database required precision and on the ball thinking whenever a new issue or feature required attention. This standardization was used to clean the system before a major upgrade.

Created visual dashboards for the NOC to graphically represent large amounts of network provisioning, status and alarm information in real time. Graphical representation allows easy identification of problems and quicker resolution of faults. Architected and implemented the dashboard using MySQL.Modified database code using Perl to increase automation and reduce troubleshooting time. Used Email Aggregation and bonding to reduce the amount of irrelevant information received by technicians.
