Responsible for autonomous rounding on inpatient cardiac surgery patients before and after surgery. Skills include performing history and physical, assessment, ordering and interpreting tests, performing bedside procedures, coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams, detailed electronic documentation, prescribing appropriate medications and interventions, discharge planning and coordination, patient education, managing complex and critical patients including mechanical support devices (ventilator, ECMO, balloon pump, Impella, RVAD, LVAD). Assist with developing a plan of care for patients before and after surgery in collaboration with cardiac surgeons. See patients in outpatient cardiac surgery clinic. Interview and oversee onboarding of new advanced practice providers (APPs) for cardiac surgery team. Mentor and coach cardiac surgery APPs, monitor APP productivity, participate in quality monitoring and management based on The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) data and outcomes, precept APP students, educate nursing staff, manage APP schedules. I participated in the development of a dedicated Structural Heart Disease (SHD) Program and care for SHD inpatients. I have participated in media advertising for Nebraska Medicine. Served on APP Council and current member of APP Leadership Team at Nebraska Medicine. Currently serving on Nebraska Medicine Utilization Management Committee. Assist Department Manager with payroll, budget development and management. Responsible for coaching and HR management for Cardiac Surgery APPs, conduct monthly 1:1s with APPs to assess and promote employee engagement/retention, coordinate and lead monthly team meetings.
