Led the development and implementation of research and evaluation activities for Healthy Start Brooklyn (HSB), a federally-funded place-based initiative aimed at reducing infant mortality, improving maternal-infant health, and reducing health disparities in selected communities in Brooklyn. Responsible for planning and managing research and evaluation activities to assess project approaches, processes and outcomes at both individual and community levels, and preparing reports, articles, briefs and presentations to share programmatic learning with project partners, donors, community stakeholders and the public.

Provision of strategic direction, technical guidance and support to EngenderHealth staff and partners in the design, implementation and evaluation of interventions to strengthen community participation in efforts to address maternal health, family planning, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence and HIV prevention.

Direction and management of programmatic activities in English-speaking Africa. Responsibilities included financial oversight of Anglophone Africa program; management of resource mobilization and donor reporting (foundation, multilateral, and European donors); leadership; coordination of three-country operations research study on skilled attendance during childbirth; development of training materials, distance learning tools, reference materials and supervisory tools to improve the quality and management of maternal health services; and design of maternal and adolescent sexual and reproductive health behavior change and community mobilization strategies, messages and materials.

Backstopping the FCI program in Anglophone Africa and provision of technical assistance to NGOs and government agencies in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Responsibilities included: developing quantitative and qualitative research instruments to assess the availability, quality, and utilization of maternal and adolescent reproductive health services in Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, and Tanzania; and design of implementation and evaluation strategies for multi-country initiatives on youth-friendly reproductive health services and sexuality education and counseling programs.

Program support and backstopping and the provision of technical assistance to NGOs and government agencies in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Responsibilities included working with partner organizations to develop a set of adolescent sexual and reproductive health education materials and training curricula and providing technical support to public and private sector partners in Ghana and Uganda on maternal and adolescent sexual and reproductive health service delivery.

Co-authored programming guide on the prevention and management of unsafe abortion. Researched and synthesized "best practices” related to the prevention and management of unsafe abortion, and developed case studies on successful programmatic approaches and evaluation results.

Developed proposals on the organizations’ legislative and educational programs and managed proposal submission and reporting for major donors and foundations. Wrote and produced 25th anniversary annual report for the organization and its affiliated political action committee.
