As a technical writer for Simplex Aerospace I author flight manuals, installation manuals, maintenance manuals and parts catalogs for our products as well as assist in creating the documents and reports required for obtaining FAA certification.I came to technical writing from the publishing side of the industry. Because of this, I understand the structure required for effective technical documents. I understand because I've developed document architecture for technical publications, creating complex structured frameworks that work in the background making the tech writing process easier for writers, visually pleasing for the end user, and ensuring that the final product meets government and customer specifications.To support this, I've developed an advanced knowledge of multiple software tools (FrameMaker, InDesign, QuarkXpress, Acrobat, MS Word, and others) and have become adept at troubleshooting software and document validation problems, as well as coaching users on how to avoid future problems.I'm also knowledgeable in the XML world, working mainly with the S1000D and Mil-Std specifications. DTDs and schemas don't include formatting, so I've become proficient at XSLT, XSL-FO as well as HTML and CSS in order to continue to provide the same quality end product that I provide with other tools.
