I am a waste activist, smart living educator, official circular economy champion – and now, a local government Greens candidate for Brown Hill.As co-founder and now president of The Hidden Orchard and a member of the Food Access Network and Ballarat Local Food Coalition, I have developed a reputation as a practical and progressive voice in the community.Having been introduced to the local government while helping with the Brown Hill Local Area Plan in 2017, I am now ready to rise to the challenge to do even more for the community. I want to help build community resilience through practical action. Food security initiatives. Programs that build connections. Equitable investment across wards. Plus, a world-leading all-in-one precinct to reduce and process wasteThanks to Dave McNamara, CEO of Foodbank Victoria, for these kinds words and summing up why I do what I do:“Ellen is smart, savvy and passionate about ensuring her community has access to environmentally responsible and nutritious food. She doesn't just want change, she makes change happen. I am grateful for young people like Ellen and the example of leadership she provides to younger generations, that change is possible.”
