I have lived in Sun Lakes for 12 years. I help people to transition into retirement. This step is a challenge for most people. Many come with expectations that they will just be the same people with a new address. There is a new phase of life that is wonderful, but it is a transition. I try to help people to see the value of living in a community that gives them the opportunity to enjoy their retirement, but also to see it as a time of reflection. Some people think "is this all there is?" NO! Stop and think about what you have to give the world. We are transitioning into elder-hood. As elders we can share our wisdom with the world. Retirees are helping in so many ways. With the economy leaving so many former middle class people in poverty, we need to step up and make a difference. I personally formed a group called Reach Out Sun Lakes in 2009. We collect food for Matthews Crossing Food Bank. Sun Lakers have donated many thousands of pounds of food and many thousands of dollars to help feed the poor. This is a great place to retire!
