Accommodations Consultant
CurrentServes as a subject matter expert on the accommodations process as well as state and federal disability laws· Provides end-to-end case management including engaging the employee, vendors, work location and other stakeholders· Educates and trains employees and HR on aspects of accommodation, return to work process and case complexities.· Assesses the individuals need for reasonable accommodation, maintains a clear understanding of essential job functions, determines physical and mental demands of the job, engages in the interactive process to determine the most effective and efficient solution that is consistent with the needs of the business and the employee or candidate.· Advises and educates employees and managers regarding disability rights and employer responsibilities under the ADA regulations applicable to reasonable accommodation requests.· Gathers relevant facts and documentation appropriate resources (i.e., Employee, Employee Relations (ER) Case Management System, job description, historical accommodation files). Documents reasonable accommodation requests, the interactive process, and recommendations in the Case Management System.· Utilizes internal and external resources (i.e., Legal partners, IT partners, Facilities and Services, Job Accommodation Network) to identify and present effective reasonable accommodation solution(s) to the employee or candidate and management.· Engages the individual’s health care provider (HCP) in circumstances when the person may not have an obvious or previously documented disability or medical condition. Interactions may include but are not limited to preparing and sending correspondence to the health care provider and/or engaging in discussions with the HCP, nurse, or other medical personnel. · Provides support, consultation and resolution of ER inquiries and issues involving total absence management, including FMLA matters, workers compensation and leaves related to federal/state and local employment laws.
