http://ombuds.ucsf.edu/Ellen Goldstein serves as the Director (2020) and Ombuds for UCSF. Ellen is a Certified Organizational Practitioner as designated by the International Ombudsman Association. At UCSF, Ellen provides ombuds and mediation services and designs and facilitates group experiences ranging from staff retreats and team building to group conflict resolution. Ms. Goldstein trained as a UCSF Volunteer Mediator in 2007 and joined the Office of the Ombuds in 2012. Her diverse group facilitation experience includes working with both small and large group processes for non-profit organizations, academic efforts, and governmental entities. Ms. Goldstein has been a popular guest lecturer on community-engaged research strategies and co-taught Translating Evidence to Practice: Community-Engaged Research in the Training in Clinical Research Program with Kevin Grumbach. At UCSF since 1988, her work has focused on HIV/AIDS, health equity, and linking research to community practice. Ms. Goldstein is available for two-party mediation, group conflict management, communications training, and group facilitation services. She is a certified True Colors trainer, and has completed courses in Mediation for Conflict Management, Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice, Unconscious Bias, and Crucial Conversations.

Co-taught the Training in Clinical Research Course on Community Engaged Research (2011-2017.) Center of Excellence in Primary Care (2005-2007).
