To preserve in-person learning for children during the pandemic, I created and led an outdoor, Montessori-inspired, interdisciplinary classroom for River Valley Charter School in partnership with the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Students were able to learn directly from the landscape, scientists, and community members in a safe and highly engaging way.

I was fortunate to spend my days with 93 exuberant sixth-graders exploring the what, how, and why of the universe through classroom lessons and discussions, laboratory experiments, modeling, writing, and observation. I collaborated with level and verticle teams to assure alignment with MA state standards and NGSS.

Virgin Islands National Park; St. John, Usvi

Used small vessels and S.C.U.B.A. to monitor changes in the marine resources of the Virgin Islands National Park. Collected data about corals, seagrass, macro algae, lobster, fish, conch and water quality. Conducted field, laboratory and office work.

I coordinated a team of volunteers in monitoring the water quality of the salt ponds of Rhode Island and sample testing by University of Rhode Island. Planned member events and conducted grant writing. Created a map of benthic habitat of Winnapaug Pond and outreach materials to engage public in determination of restoration needs for The Sounds Conservancy.
