ABOUTI have been told since I was in high school my career choice should have been becoming a teacher. I guess they had me pegged correctly because here I am today after all these years educating Seniors about the Basics of Medicare or as I refer to it as the ‘ABC’s of Medicare.’ You can find me at Churches, Low Income Housing, Senior Apartments or having a one-to-one Member Meeting doing just that! My reward comes from knowing Seniors at least understand the basics of Medicare after meeting with me. Medicare is confusing and people usually are clueless before our session begins. Once agreeing to an individualized appointment with me thereafter, I further make sure they are receiving all the ‘extra’ benefits they are entitled to. Next, that they are enrolled in the insurance plan best suited for their needs and budget. Lastly, my certification with all the Major Health Care Insurance Providers, knowledge of yearly plan changes and expertise are always available for them throughout the entire year once they decide to become my client. NEVER A COST TO THEM EVER! I enjoy volunteering and I believe in giving back. Some of these places locally are The American Legion, The Legacy, Corn Hill Arts Festival, and I am also on my Neighborhood Newsletter Committee. Many years ago, while living on the island of Trinidad, I sponsored two very young brothers that lived in an orphanage. On a weekly basis for three years, I brought my five-year-old son there to visit and play with them. I wanted him to experience what everyday life was like for those boys that included the food they ate, how they slept, the clothes and toys they had, etc. I needed for him to experience that life lesson that would offer a true appreciation of how fortunate he was. Obviously, those three years were very meaningful and left a significant impact on him because he even wrote about it in his college application essay years later. Much of my Medicare business now comes from referrals. When my current clients, attorneys, financial planners, or other business professionals entrusts me with their clients, themselves, and their spouses, that is the biggest accolade I could ever ask for. I then know I have ‘earned’ my place in ‘The Medicare World!’
