In my role as an Implementation Manager for the Learning and Skills department at the Institute of Physics I am responsible for leading, defining, planning, and managing projects that support the strategic aims of the department both for the benefit of the IOP and it’s stakeholders. Working on a variety of projects across the department, I work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This has seen me leading on and providing expertise in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, marketing and communications, managing budgets, planning of activities, initiation and approval, monitoring and evaluation, risk, issue and dependency management, prioritisation, lessons learned, and project closures.

In holding three different positions I was required to implement and maintain a system of efficient time management, allowing seamless movement between roles. It was vital to ensure a high level of personal organisation, in order for me to successfully manage and maintain my duties, some of which were as follows:Coalition Coordinator:• Working to engage, and subsequently galvanize, external organisations to mark International Peace Day.• Building strong relationships with external stakeholders, and managing these relationships in order to encourage and oversee grassroot activation.• Working to coordinate the entire Campaigns team including: Organising and running weekly team meetings; supplying meeting minutes; and training all interns within the team on the work required of them as well as on internal processes such as Salesforce.Measurement Officer:• Responsible for collating, recording and measuring all mentions of International Peace Day, along with the work of Peace One Day within the media.• Responsible for staff training in relation to the measurement of their departments.Online Shop Manager:• Responsible for the complete rebranding and relaunch of Peace One Day’s online e-commerce site, including: Managing the design and copywriting of the website; the design and procurement of new stock; and all subsequent website mangement. • As a result of the rebranding undertaken by myself, along with a complete updating of social media based marketing strategies, online sales doubled from the previous year.

On a project concerned with investigating South Africans perceptions concerning water shortages and the countries water supply.Responsible for ensuring all participants received the questionnaire used in the research to assess primary data. Developed key communication and interpersonal skills handling queries from a wide variety of different people.Analytical competence further strengthened through involvement in compiling and processing raw data.

Employed at South Africa's first online student orientated news source.Held the position of Associate Editor as well as producing my own cooking column. Responsible for finding and attracting new investors and advertising clients to the company. As a student-run business, we were actively involved in encouraging and publishing pieces by young writers from more economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with a specific focus on Thabong Township, Welkom, Free State, the birthplace of the founder. I facilitated and ran a monthly workshop in Thabong, with journalism students from the University of Witwatersrand volunteering to impart their skills and knowledge to local adults wanting to pursue a career in journalism. My time at Varsity Time Beat taught me the importance of being organised with exceptional time management, as well as ways to address problems with communication between partners.
