Buildings And Property Division

Key Tasks / Responsibilities• Implementing systems integration and providing general database technical support, ensuring the direct flow of data through different databases and system interfaces.• Analysing data to identify existing baseline conditions and provide solutions to asset issues while assisting in the development of programs to renew, maintain or dispose of University assets.• Providing technical advice and spatial data support to the Division, wider Flinders community, and contractors resulting in accelerated data delivery and maximised effectiveness of deliverables.Key Achievements• Established the capture and storage of spatial and aspatial asset data and facilitated the conversion of CAD to GIS, ensuring the asset databases are sustained and provide the necessary information to end users and give access to non-CAD and GIS proficient users through refined web interfaces.• Consistently providing timely, accurate asset information reports for Federal, State and internal reporting. Assembled up-to-date and interactive space maps that can be interpreted by staff across the wider university.• Devised a wide range of cartographic products to assist and simplify decision making, master planning, and space planning.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities • Collection of spatial data relating to campus services and assets through site surveys, digitising, and central records/archival investigation and the continual update and maintenance of these spatial datasets.• Professional documentation writing of safe operating procedures (SOP), equipment handling, and training documentation.• Administration of spatial databases (Oracle 11G and PostGIS PostgreSQL) and assisting with technical requests from the University Information Technology Services (ITS) team.• Co-ordinate meetings, staff, and consultant liaisons to discuss various geospatial projects, upcoming research opportunities, and the collection of project-relevant data.Key Achievements• Launched discussions with Buildings and Property Division regarding GIS for use in asset and facilities management which expanded their space planning capabilities.• Accurately recorded each space across every building at the Flinders University Bedford Park campus including room utilisation and faculty occupancy which spearheaded the adoption of GIS within the Buildings and Property Division.• Enabled the first high accuracy report of University wide space utilisation, Gross Floor Area (GFA) and Usable Floor Area (UFA) demonstrating the redundancies in previous calculations.• Developed a web interface for Information Technology Services, Timetabling, and Buildings and Property to view 3D panoramic images of classrooms for auditing and room booking purposes.
