Hired, oversaw, and directed a team of over 40 contract tracers and 2 case investigation and contact tracing supervisors. These public health professionals then tracked, evaluated, and implemented quarantine and isolation for individuals exposed to and infected with SARS-CoV-2, respectively, among UIC’s approximately 50,000 students and employees. Directed surveillance activities including data management and analysis, including creating a report on contact tracing metrics used to measure the program’s success and track the epidemiology of COVID-19 at UIC. Developed investigation/tracing protocols, forms, workflows, and materials. Oversaw the customization of the technology platform required for case investigation and contact tracing data. Developed and led a training program for campus contact tracers and their supervisors. Acted as an epidemiologic expert for more complex investigations. Ensured team adherence to all requirements regarding protection of confidential information and other policies and procedures internal to UIC, as well as those related to external data sharing with local public health departments. Collaborated and coordinated with UIC campus leadership, University Health Services (Employee Health), UIC Student Health Services, UI Health Infection Prevention, the UIC Laboratory, and others, to ensure consistency in communications, practices, decision-making, and data sharing. Presented campus policies, data, and serve as a source of public health guidance to campus members and stakeholders. This included over thirty talks given across the campus in order to educate campus members. Participated in COVID-19 research to increase the public’s knowledge about the virus. Used data collected by CFD, as well as from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Reviewed the literature as it relates to the topic to write a comprehensive thesis proposal. Wrote and submitted a protocol to UIC’s IRB. Assessed the and overall system impacts and associations between extreme temperature events and volume of 911 calls in which an ambulance was dispatched in Chicago. Utilized time series analysis to understand how the outcome on different days affect the outcome on the current day. Presented results to CFD leadership.

Recruited patients in both English and Spanish for the NUgene Project’s genetic testing study and a genetic biobank. Scheduled and monitored visits and follow-ups, collected data using RedCap, and educated patients about genetics as it relates to the study in order to provide informed consent. Often observed by graduate students from NU’s Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling for their clinical rotations, as well as by undergraduate students volunteering for the study. Also supervised study volunteers.

Transcribed medical visits in the electronic medical records during patient visits and coding diagnoses using the ICD-10 norms. Assisted the doctors in navigating the electronic medical record, including electronic prescribing. Managed and sorted medical documents, composed the doctors’ letters, and performed clinical tests including visual field tests and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Took and processed dental images using X-ray and CT. Provided patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures.

Taught natural sciences, social sciences and English classes at a 400 student public bilingual primary school. Worked with both students and teachers to perfect English pronunciation and grammar. Collaborated with teaching staff in the creation of instructional materials and lesson plans, and taught classes both with and without supervision. Translated documents and acted as an interpreter for school and interpreted for school and local government officials. Gave private English classes to students ages 3 and up, including adults studying for bilingual proficiency exams and for business purposes.

I gave private and group English language classes to all ages. My classes ranged from basic language classes with five year old children to conversation classes for adults with excellent language skills.

Employed by both the Spanish Department and the Mathematics Department as a tutor. For the Spanish Department, I tutored individual students in introductory Spanish upon request. For Mathematics Department, I was the tutor for Introductory Statistics, holding regular study sessions three times a week to be available to all sections of this course.

Taught students in intensive, introductory Spanish for the Modern Languages Department. We met for 3-5, 50 minute sessions in the afternoon. Based on the syllabus and collaboration with the professor of the course, planned and executed my own classes.
