About Ellen Stein

I am a public health professional with extensive applied epidemiology, data analysis, and research experience. I graduated from UIC in 2019 with an MS degree in Epidemiology, focusing on infectious disease epidemiology and quantitative methods. There I completed rigorous biostatistics and epidemiology coursework, and additionally have professional exposure to a wide range of quantitative methods, data sources, and research settings; some of these methods include: linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, longitudinal, clinical trials, time series, health analytics, and machine learning. I have professional experience in applied epidemiology, data analysis/management/visualization, as well as research design, management, and execution experience through working at TriNetX, Northwestern University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department, and Kinsa Health. I have worked with many different data types, including electronic health records (EHR), health and pharmacy insurance claims, self-reported health data, clinical trial data, public health (e.g. I-NEDSS), and ambulance medical record data. I currently work in pharmacoepidemiology, researching a breadth of treatment areas. I have also worked in several treatment areas previously, including: anesthesia, genetics, HIV, HCV, diabetes, emergency planning, COVID-19, influenza, and other respiratory illnesses.
