About Ellen Swanson
I feel very strongly about advocacy and empowering humans to create a life free of violence. My first experiences working with victims/survivors of domestic violence was through SafeNest and the PS417 program. Currently, I spend one day a week at the Regional Justice Center as a volunteer court advocate with SafeNest. As an advocate I speak with victims/survivors who have been subpoenaed there to help explain the court process, provide emotional support, and establish what their wishes are for the outcome of the case. Being in the court and legal atmosphere is something I really enjoy. Currently, I am working with The Embracing Project as an after-hours advocate. In addition to the human trafficking training I have received through TEP, I have completed the Sexual Assault AU training through Signs of Hope and twenty hours of HT training. In this capacity, I answer the RISE hotline 3 days a week as well as do in-person outreach with those being sexually exploited. My goal is always to empower our clients to make the best decisions they can by giving them resources and information to make informed decisions. It is my conviction that every person deserves to live a fulfilling and peaceful life.
