In this role I am an Interior design Consultant to Metricon customers. When building a home, part of the process for most home buyers is to come through 'Studio M' and select all of the materials, colours, finishes and fittings for the home. This also includes Flooring, Kitchen and Joinery design with Hardware, Window furnishings, Sanitary-ware, Appliances and Landscaping. My role is to guide a customer through all of this and implement everything that a customer wants and needs in the home whilst having it look appealing as well as come within the customers budget whatever that might be. sometimes this is $0 but can also be a non issue for other customers. This process can take around 6 hours for the average customer but can take up to 3-4 visits for more particular people. Approx 60% of my role is admin based - the customer receives colour schedules and quotations from myself and then can make changes. sometimes the customer will need more appointments to make their changes.My role continues with the customer as they have their contract signing when I will complete a check on all of their selections before construction to ensure that everything has been selected in accordance to final construction plans. I also deal with any on site queries or issues that come through during and sometimes even after the build is complete.This role is non stop and definitely not an easy one however when you complete a job with a customer its incredibly rewarding to hand them a mood board of their selections and see their faces light up. The one thing that I really think I miss in this role through, is seeing the finished home and finding out whether or not the customer is happy with the end result!

Working as an interior designer as part of the Product development team at Metricon, I was a part of the Decor portion of the department. My role involved deciding and presenting schemes and themes for new displays that Metricon was constructing and seeing them through to completion. The role was interesting as well as challenging. My part in the process was to come up with a scheme for the internal and externals of the home with a theme attached, grated this was approved by my peers, all internal and external selections are made and implemented as the home was built, Furniture, Styling, Lighting selections and design, Wallpaper, Window furnishings and final fit out are all elements of the job too. This was an incredibly rewarding role as you not only got to see the job from start to finish but you would later visit and 'touch up' the home, months after it had opened. There was also a lot of feedback involved in the role so I was always striving for the better.

Seeing Porter Davis clients through their external and internal colour selections at the World of Style showroom. When they build with PD they come and spend a day or two in the showroom doing selections for the electrical, tiling, kitchen design and interior design of their new home! Involves use of SAP computer program, colour coordination and intense people skills as well as conflict resolution abilities to get people through their appointments happy and satisfied. Also a few out of hours work amending selections when clients change their minds etc.

Working at the Porter Davis 'World of Style' showroom in South Melbourne. This is an interior design showroom with all finishes, paint, bricks, tiles, tap ware, stone etc all on display. This role is a weekend one, helping clients and the public with their preparation for their colour selection appointments.This is a customer service roll so people skills are key, conflict resolution also comes in handy! We also get allot of the public through the space so explaining the concept of the showroom and being able to help outside clientele with their design solutions is a bit of fun as well.

In this role, I do a bit of everything: Drafting, space planning, furniture schedules, paint and colour, materials, finishes and colour selections, schedules, display home fit outs, styling and furniture selection. I work casually for this company, who design display homes, do renovations, fit out, concept design and colour consultations.
