I demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the menu, including ingredients and preparation methods, to assist guests with selections and accommodate special requests. As a substitute School Counselor, I have been functioning in the role of a full-time School Counselor. This position has also been functioning as my Internship for my Master of Education in School Counseling program. In this position I have been responsible for conducting individual and group counseling, providing academic guidance, and assisting with career planning. Specifically I have met with students in crisis and helped them to regulate and be able to make a plan for moving forward, I have facilitated conflict resolution conversations between multiple students as well as between students and teachers. I have collaborated with students, parents, teachers, and admin at different times to create the best supports and plans for students. During this placement I have had the opportunity to develop and deliver lessons on kindness, collaboration, and empathy, including collecting follow-up data that indicates an effective lesson. I have learned how to discuss schedule changes with students which has included problem solving current struggles to avoid the need for a change as well as adding and dropping courses in eSchool when changes were necessary. I have been able to be hands on with eSchool and feel that I am able to successfully navigate the system. One of my greatest accomplishments during this placement has been the rapport I have been able to build with students despite the short time frame of my position as well as having an in-depth grasp of the new CBG system being used to the degree that my lead counselor will ask for support from me when explaining it to students and families.

Responsibilities encompassed conducting individual and group counseling sessions, providing crisis intervention, guiding academic planning, facilitating career exploration, implementing social and emotional learning programs, collaborating with school staff and families, maintaining accurate documentation, and engaging in professional development activities. As a substitute teacher I was responsible for arriving on time to the school and gathering necessary information from the front office before heading to the classroom. I would then read through the sub plans for the day and execute the plans to the best of my ability. I was responsible for familiarizing myself with and maintaining classroom expectations in different classrooms based on the placement as well as being flexible when something unexpected would occur. Along with classroom management, I was often also maintaining behavior plans for students which would sometimes include tracking behaviors and signing off on behavior charts. I was skilled at thinking on my feet to answer questions and attempt to further learning for students beyond the information given on the sub plans such as helping students find scholarly articles for a research project or defining words they were unfamiliar with. I was also responsible for leaving thorough notes for the teacher on how the day/classes had gone.
