Chief executive of the CTB assessment business. Founded in 1926 with the mission "to help the teacher help the child," CTB was one of the earliest K-12 assessment companies in the industry. As President of CTB, my role was to maintain this mission and the company's reputation for excellence in the field of measurement. Responsibilities included setting the vision and strategic plan for future contributions to the industry and to MHE financial goals through CTB product development and services for our customers. Worked with talented team of executives to set financial goals, product portfolio plans, research directions, bidding strategies, technology short and long-range plans and overall goals for the business. During this time, we introduced the award-winning Acuity family of formative assessment products and the TASC high school equivalency product, which quickly captured market interest and adoptions. CTB was fortunate to have excellent, caring employees; we worked together, across departments and in teams to serve our customers as they implemented statewide and district-level student summative and formative testing programs.

Across 20+ years, lead almost every department at CTB. Was hired in 1986 as Director of Editorial Systems and Services; highlight was introducing technology to the test development and production processes. Became Vice President of Custom Test Development, then Vice President of Publishing -- responsible for Custom Test Development as well as Shelf Test Development and Strategic Test Development. During the time, Publishing developed the TerraNova family of achievement tests, introduced new version of the Language Assessment Scales (LAS) and TABE products. While VP of Publishing, also named VP of Research, which included executive leadership for CTB's highly regarded psychometricians and statisticians as well as the R&D agenda. During these years, also held the roles of VP of Scoring, VP of Technology, and VP of Program Management -- sometimes more than once and often at the same time. Learned the assessment business from all these key departments and staff.

Hired as a technical writer/editor at this pioneering software company, founded by software entrepreneur, Gary Kildall. Had the chance to work on user and programmer documentation for CP/M, the first operating system for the microcomputer. Eventually became Technical Publications Manager and led writing, editing, production and manufacturing for all the company's software documentation.
