Ellen is a Global Executive with a proven background in driving business operations, leading external affairs teams and other top-performing global teams, developing strategic partnerships, and setting companies on a growth trajectory. She served as Spokesperson throughout her career. Most recently, she was VP for Global External Affairs & Sustainability at Albemarle, a global specialty chemicals company with leading positions in lithium and bromine. Ellen built and led a global team to develop and implement the Energy Storage external affairs and sustainability strategy, worked proactively with government officials and communities to create long-term relationships, and developed partnerships with external organizations to support Energy Storage growth. She was a member of the Energy Storage Leadership Team, which developed and led the execution of the 10-year growth strategy. Prior to this, Ellen was Global VP Lithium Sustainability & Country Manager Chile. She developed the sustainability strategy for the Lithium/Energy Storage Global Business Unit. Ellen led Albemarle to become the first lithium company to complete the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) third-party audit globally in the Salar mine site in Chile. As Country Manager, she created and executed the corporate strategy and led all external affairs and community and environmental management. Ellen is a frequent speaker on lithium, sustainability and community engagement – areas in which she has been pioneering innovative industry paradigms: • honored to speak at the 2021 United Nations Global Compact Leadership Summit in New York on best practices in sustainable mining and community engagement. • selected as one of the 100 Inspiring Women in Mining globally in 2020 and named Executive of the Year in 2021 by the Antofagasta Industrial Association in Chile.She served as a Career Diplomat for the US for more than 25 years. At US Embassies in Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Chile and Colombia, Ellen led the commercial portfolio and dialogued with national governments to drive policy and regulatory changes to increase bilateral trade, developed commercial strategies and programs to promote US exports and provided strategic advocacy for US exporters and American companies investing abroad.
