Design Observer is an independent media company that has maintained the same clear vision for more than two decades: to expand the definition of design in service of a better world. My current mission is to expand editorial operations to include new podcasts, newsletters, and content verticals focused on design, equity, technology, leadership, democracy, and beyond.

I founded the race and equity beat in 2016, and write the award-winning newsletter, raceAhead. For the past three years, I was the founding editorial director of Fortune Connect, an executive community for mid-career, purpose-driven leaders. I’m the co-host of the Leadership Next podcast, and at various times over the years, held leadership roles with key conference franchises, Most Powerful Women, the CEO Initiative, and Brainstorm Design.

Worked closely with two lead author-researchers to produce Your First Leadership Job: How Catalyst Leaders Bring Out the Best in Others, published by Wiley. Formatted, outlined, ghostwrote and edited the 300-page book. Worked extensively with authors to shape copy, translated independent research into accessible content, conducted in-depth interviews with new leaders, generated and incorporated social media content.

As a senior writer, I wrote or contributed to more than eighteen cover stories, exploring and explaining the people, technology and companies who are shaping the world. Among them: Facebook, Twitter, Intel, Cisco, Ursula Burns, Al Gore, Jack Dorsey, Chris Hughes, Barack Obama, Matt Damon and Nike’s Mark Parker. I started Fast Company’s 30 Second MBA video series in 2009.

On staff at MONEY and Fortune, covered in-depth business, personal finance, and investing topics; wrote personal finance explainer pieces for TIME. Wrote a consumer advocacy column, "Money Helps." Made weekly appearances on CNN, was a frequent contributor to Good Morning America, CBS Early Today, NBC Nightly News, CNBC and American Public Media.

One of the first online 'zines devoted specifically to the topic of women, investing and financial literacy, Cassandra's Revenge grew to become an online community of more than five million members around the world. Advertising supported, independently owned, written and operated. Published daily newsletter reaching 100,000 subscribers. Contributed weekly segments for Yahoo! Finance Vision, an early finance show on the web. Established a related women's site within AOL in 1996, which was acquired by Oxygen Media in 2000.
