I am a healthcare marketing, communications, and advocacy executive who is passionate about empowering people to understand and make informed healthcare choices. My deep experience across hospital, pharma, and non-profit advocacy organizations has provided broad exposure to how people manage their health while also understanding the priorities and pain points of the pharma companies, clinicians, and hospital administrators who develop and provide healthcare therapies to these individuals. Since 2014, I have served as the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy & Policy Officer for CancerCare, a national non-profit organization committed to providing education, as well as emotional and financial support services to patients and families affected by cancer. For 17 years prior to joining CancerCare, I served as Vice President of Marketing for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the nation’s premier cancer centers. I led brand positioning for consumer and professional marketing and introduced in-depth patient research as a way to assess patients’ priorities and help guide patient-focused services. Throughout my career, I have developed, implemented, or supported numerous programs and policies to evaluate and confront barriers to high quality care, provide valuable resources for patients and families, and level the playing field so that the priorities of people with cancer are reflected in their treatment plans. Additionally, I founded and nurtured an online community of 3,000+ members that supports cancer patients and caregivers, as well as led initiatives to easily access cancer patient and caregiver feedback. This and subsequent research have supported initiatives that truly reflect the reality and range of cancer patient experiences as well as paved the way to a long list of peer-reviewed publications.Key projects have directed at CancerCare include the CancerCare Patient Access and Engagement Report, the Patient Values Initiative and Employer’s Prescription for Employee Protection Toolkit: Best Practices for Prescription Benefit Design.I appreciate the opportunity to connect with other avid patient advocates.
