Ellen’s eighteen photo essay children's books were published by Scholastic, HarperCollins, Dutton, Abrams and others. Her other writing experiences include curriculum, articles, and blogs. Her photography work is used by the major education publishers and children’s book publishers. Her work as a writer and photographer helped her develop her signature competency in capturing essential concepts in both word and image. Writer Credentials: Ellen’s book awards include a Notable Children’s Trade Book in Social Studies from the National Council of Social Studies and the Children’s Book Council; one of the Best Books of the Year in the Special Interest Category from the Children’s Book Committee of Bank Street College; and a finalist for a Revere Award (Association of American Publishers). Starred reviews of some of her books appeared in Booklist and School Library Journal and one was an American Booksellers Pick of the Lists. She also wrote and edited curriculum content, blog posts, and social media posts for the K-5 science program she created for her company, EdTechLens. Ellen also wrote articles and photo essays for juvenile and adult publications including Baby Talk, American Baby, Mothering, Cricket, and the US Kids magazines.Photographer Credentials: Ellen’s photographs were consistently praised in reviews of her books in Kirkus Reviews, Booklist, School Library Journal, and others. She licenses stock photography from her collection of child-centered photographs of ethnically-diverse, model-released children to publishers. Ellen is comfortable using photography software to edit, photo research, manage digital assets, and retouch photographs with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Luminar.

Ellen formed EdTechLens2, LLC to create her curriculum program, Rainforest Journey. She developed the program vision, contributed content, and supervised a team of educators and media specialists to help her build this digital K-5 life science curriculum. The program uses theme-based learning and rich media to engage learners while addressing the Next Generation Science Standards and English Language Arts Standards. As project manager and content creator, she assigned, wrote, and/or edited reading passages for lessons and units as well as hands-on activities, assessments, creative primary sources, and EdTechLens blogposts and newsletters. Her work also included, aligning content with learning standards, photo research, photo retouching, assets management, and photo and video editing. Senisi Multimedia produced concept-oriented videos using still images, video, and audio, including original music developed for each project. We created videos for nonprofits, businesses, and education organizations. The videos produced were conceptual and creative: unique blends of word, image, and music.
