The main objectives of the INVIRCAT project are the creation of a concept of operations for remotely piloted aircraft systems in the terminal manoeuvring area of airports, assessing it through simulations and draft a set of recommendations for rule makers and standardization bodies.

The IBG QFIR Project will, inter alia, support the increase of capacity and throughput of Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport and prepare the country for the increase in traffic surrounding the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. My role in the project was to assess human performance aspects of the project.

Malmö-Sturup, Sweden

I managed daily operations at the ATC Centre at Malmö. Tasks included staff management, FMP flow control, AMC Airspace Management and configurations of our Topsky Coopans ATM system. I kept a valid rating as an area controller until 2011.From 2005 until 2010 I managed a customer relations team; to support the exchange of views and experiences between pilots and air traffic controllers including workshops for Airline Pilots.

LFV was given a government assignment to perform an in-depth analysis of the Swedish airspace, leading to a national airspace strategy up to 2040. My tasks included analysis of the impact of drones and electric flights but also to study airspace projects in other European states.

In this time-limited mission to assist the LFV headquarters, I was tasked with analyses for the LFV business plan, Borealis alliance cooperation, LFV airspace and UTM/U-space strategies.

Nairobi, Kenya

I was on an ICAO mission in Nairobi to draft the relocation plan with a safety assessment for the Flight Information Services of Somalia.

Lagos, Nigeria

I was on a Special Service Agreement with ICAO, tasked to perform a safety assessment in cooperation with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency in Lagos, Nigeria. The safety assessment of the Nigerian introduction of ADS-C and CPDLC was performed in December 2015 and finalized with a Post Implementation Review in February 2016. I also provided safety training for NAMA safety staff.

Windhoek, Namibia

I assisted the Namibian Directorate of Civil Aviation with various support to the Air Navigation Service Provider. I investigated 53 ATS-related safety incidents and did a systemic analysis of the safety situation of the ANS provider.

Windhoek, Namibia

I was initially the project leader in a project to launch radar and WAM operations with Thales Eurocat X in Namibia. I designed the training program for the implementation of surveillance control in the Namibian airspace but also worked with simulator exercise production and was an instructor in the actual training of local controllers. The final part was the transfer of skills and knowledge to the local staff in fields like training, training design and simulator exercise preparation. The project was very successful and in December 2011 made Namibia the first nation in the world with nationwide WAM surveillance control.From December 2012, I moved to the Headquarters of the Namibia Directorate of Civil Aviation, where I was tasked with the preparations for an ANS oversight function within DCA.

I was an officer in the reserve with the rank of Captain. My tasks were within Air Traffic Control, assigned with the ATC of military war-time Air Bases.

Brussels Area, Belgium

I was a member of the HORGI Task Force, tasked to develop harmonised and standardised OAT rules, regulations, and procedures including relevant GAT interfaces within Europe to ensure Pan-European OAT in a safe and legal frame.I was also a member of the OFP Task Force, tasked to develop harmonised military interoperability requirements for OAT flight data flows and to provide a harmonised military input in support of the Agency’s involvement in the ICAO FPLSG.

I was initially working with training management for Aerodrome and Procedural Approach Control training. In the early 1990's we introduced modern 3D TWR simulators and I was involved in the exercise production. In the early 2000's, I managed a project team that designed the new training curriculum for military and civil TWR and APP/TMC radar controllers. I provided simulator and training support to the Netherlands and Danish Air Forces.

I was a Quality Coach to assist ATS units in Quality Management, based on the methods used by the Swedish Institute for Quality. I was a member of the Swedish ATS Academy Process Board 1999-2001 and a member of the ATCC ESMM Process Board 2000-2001. I managed two major audits; in 1999 I audited ATCC Malmö, Sweden's largest area centre with a staff of some 200; in 2001 a made a similar audit of the ATS-unit of Stockholm-Arlanda, with a staff of some 60.

I worked Tower and Approach (Radar) on four military airports:Air Force Wing 6 with two fighter squadrons AJ 37 SAAB Viggen; from January 1982 until December 1983. The TMA was also used by the Armed Forces for paratrooper training and for ammunition and weapon training, research and development.Air Force Wing 7 with two fighter squadrons AJ 37 SAAB Viggen and the Air Force Transport squadron with C130 Hercules; from January 1984 until July 1984.Air Force Wing 5, the Swedish Air Force Flying school; prop and jet training, as well as Sweden's Airline Pilots Academy with single and twin props. Ljungbyhed with four parallel runways is one of the world's oldest, still active, airports and Sweden's busiest airport ever. SSR was introduced in the tower during this period. I was tasked with staff planning and the production of the monthly roster. I was also assigned with the task of internal safety and quality audits. I was here from May 1985 until July 1998. Air Force Wing 10; a very complex military/civil airport with two runways; serving airliners, biz-jets, fighters and mil jet-trainers. I was here from August 1998 - May 2000.
