Promoted to Charge Nurse within three months; supervise and coordinate assignments for a team of up to four nurses a shift; precept and orientate nursing students and new hires. Provide complex nursing care during all stages of labor and delivery; triage antepartum and intrapartum patients; perform non-stress tests and communicate results accordingly with providers; monitor and interpret fetal heart rate and uterine activity; assist with placement of IUPC, FSE and epidural equipment; identify and monitor for obstetric emergencies and complications; prepare and assist with cesarean sections; perform sterile vaginal exams; administer high-risk medications. Stabilize newborns post-delivery and assess infants for neonatal complications; provide infant resuscitation measures including various levels of respiratory support, IV or UVC placement, and administer blood products or other neonatal medications; assist providers with circumcisions; perform newborn hearing screens; provide comprehensive education regarding newborn care. Provide family-centered nursing care to mothers and infants; advocate, educate, and provide comfort and support for families during all stages of the delivery and postpartum process. Show less
