3Rd Grade Bilingual Elar Teacher
CurrentA bilingual teacher has a goal to teach native-Spanish-speaking students a second language, while also instructing ESL students in an attempt to help them learn exit into the English language curriculum. I am responsible for ensuring that students keep up with their English classroom curriculum in math, science, and social studies. As in a regular classroom, this involves a large amount of out-of-class planning and curriculum development. As a bilingual teacher, I must plan a strategy and schedule for each day’s lessons, including converting English language curriculum into Spanish. This, of course, involves planning activities, projects, games and group activities that will encourage students to learn the material and interact in their non-native language as smoothly as possible.2015-2016 Teacher of the Year Finalist
