The latest investigation I participated in was the assessment of the measures taken in Finland due to the Covid-19 pandemic. My main responsibilities were the Swedish language press information of the Defence Forces, international questions and information on Finnish participation in peacekeeping operations. I participated in the strategy planning, co-ordination and supervising of the public information policy of the Finnish Defence Forces. During my service I participated in developing of a media monitoring and analysing system for the Defence Forces and I supervised and led a team of 20 persons responsible for the media monitoring. My daily tasks included drafting specific information strategies, writing press releases, giving interviews and organizing media events. I also planned and supervised media visits to international locations including Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2006. I also planned and executed media training for military personnel, including media training for international students in courses in Sweden, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia.

As Press Information Officer of the Finnish Contingent in the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo I acted as the spokesperson for the contingent to Finnish media. I advised the contingent commander on public information matters, produced press releases, news to the Finnish Defence Forces web-pages, published a magazine and managed a radio station for internal communication. I planned and hosted several press visits and organized the communication related to several high level visits, including the visit of the President of Finland.

I was employed by the Finnish Defence Forces that deployed troops to the ISAF –peacekeeping operation. My tasks included planning and executing information operations in Faryab province. I was responsible for contacts with international and Afghan media and planned and hosted press visits. Our PRT supported under my supervision the local media in a complicated media context (interference from the Taliban movement, death threats and need for special support for female journalists). I also functioned as the spokesperson for the Finnish Contingent responsible for press visits, giving interviews, producing press releases and web-features for the Finnish Defence Forces.

I worked as a journalist in several different news rooms at the Finnish national broadcasting company, Yle. During my studies I worked as part time reporter based in Vasa and in the autumn 2001 I worked as freelance correspondent in Oslo, Norway. From January to June 2002 I worked as TV news reporter and news anchor, for the Swedish language morning TV-news Morgonnytt in Helsinki. During the period 8 July 2002 – 4 July 2003 I did military service and returned then to Yle and worked at the main evening TV-news and breakfast TV news as news reporter.
