As a Personal Trainer my job goes beyond putting someone through an intense hour workout. I see it as my job to educate people on more than just how to use a gym. In a typical week we may spend 5% of our time in a gym, what we do or don't do to our bodies during the other 95% of time is truly what makes our time in the gym or doing other physical activity worth while. Any type of health changes requires lifestyle alterations and I attribute my professional practice to helping others begin to make and maintain these positive shifts in life. Eventually leading to happier and healthier lives.

The internship has been broken up into different sections. First and primarily learning objectives covering personal training shadowing/screening, fitness assessments, as well as hands on training experience and program design. The second major focus of the internship has been group fitness evaluation and program design. With the help of a mentor I have developed and instructing a 50 minute full-body challenge class for up to 40+ individuals, selecting exercises and music myself. As well as developing my personal training skills and confidence in front of clients the internship also consisted of learning about Operations of the ARC, sales and marketing, and program design, professional development and resume building, as well as literature reviews of research in the fitness field.This internship has prepared me to work confidently within the fitness industry and given the opportunity to do so I have no doubts in my ability to help others achieve their own personal goals.
