The department of Biomedical & Translational Informatics is aimed at working in conjunction with the "My Code" community health initiative to provide unique insight into the associations between genotypic data and phenotypic data using electronic health records. Using modern informatics technology will allow healthcare professionals implement precision medicine and open new areas for researchers to discover. This large scale combination of genotypic and phenotypic data will help investigate the true contributions of common and rare genetic variants on various diseases and pave the way for better patient therapies.

Researching the pathogenesis of a primary open angle glaucoma, a world leading cause of blindness. Focused on finding the physiological and anatomical triggers that lead to glaucoma. Involved in the testing of both drug compounds and medical devices geared towards lowering the intraocular pressure of at risk patients.

Explored the relationship between damage to DNA in carcinomas, induced by the Human Papilloma Virus, and specific signaling proteins involved in its repair.

Provided clinical care to elderly patients that were at risk for delirium. Built rapport and communicated with patients and families on a regular basis and participated in interventional sessions. Interacted with healthcare staff and learned to code and annotate medical notes for interventional sessions.
