I have a passion for problem solving, using technology and unique approaches to solve hard problems and make those solutions accessible. I began that journey as a kid with a focus on technology, building a 1200 baud BBS for business people and doing crude business analytics software while I was still in high school in the 1980s. And now, 30+ years later, I am again immersed in (very different) new technology exploration. As I have transitioned between different fields and focuses over my career, I have continually invested in becoming an expert on the ideas, technology, and science that underlies my current field. This continual learning has allowed me to find new solutions in some cases, and in others simply to replicate the state of the art solutions from others. I believe the breadth of my experience and education have allowed me to sometime find solutions that were from far outside the current problem domain, and to be able to consider both problems and solutions in a broader way.My work has always required leadership, communication, and team-building as well as technical capability, and I believe this is one of my key strengths that has allowed me to succeed. No one succeeds alone, and every success and award I've received has been as much about the team I am on as my own abilities. Sometimes I've been the leader of that team, sometimes one of the players. I have always enjoyed both roles.The current phase of my professional life involves building technical solutions that work for people and the mission, and I have been doing that at various levels, from solo developer to project manager, depending on the size of the project and resources available, for the last 6 years. The current tech skills I regularly use are: Digital forensics (computer, server, and mobile devices); Coding: C, Python, Java, C++, PHP, Javascript; Linux systems administration; Security assessments and penetration testing; Software reverse engineering; Network traffic analysis; SQL; Project management. I am retiring from government service in February 2023 and will be looking for a place to continue to apply these skills on a new team in a way that makes an impact.
