I work in retail, selling the experience to customers as well as in the gift shop where I work to sell customers the goods we have in there. Every month a Mystery shopper from the company goes through the experience and since the new team has been in place our mystery shopper satisfaction has been higher than any other site in the company.When I was employed it was alongside a whole new team, who could act as well as perform retail duties. I am a costumed character within the world of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. I send the customers on their way through a medieval experience and welcome them again into the modern world. In order to do this role efficiently I needed to do research into the era and create a script based upon this research. Though I use modern language the information I relay to customers must be accurate and I took it upon myself to ensure that if ever a customer was to ask me about the era or the works of Geoffrey Chaucer I would be able to answer them effectively.I decided to utilise the skills I have learnt at university to add to the company. Me and a few other members of staff created a 'Comedy Tour of Canterbury'. With this tour we researched a lot of history of the city and created a sketch based tour that saw a team of two performing as characters that went around the city, 'raising famous historic figures from the dead'. These figures included; Christopher Marlowe, Thomas Beckett and William Hardy to name a few. We proposed this idea to the company and after a trial run in April we then performed two hour long tours a week from June till September selling £10 for adults and £8 for concessions. Show less
