I currently work as a writer-researcher at Convergence Analysis, communicating our research on AI Safety.Previously, I was a technical writer for QuantumBlack, writing intuitive explanations of machine learning topics and codifying best practises and guidelines. Before that, I did a PhD in mathematics at the University of Manchester, studying modular representation theory under the supervision of Dr Charles Eaton. In my thesis, I classified the Morita equivalence classes of 2-blocks with homocyclic defect group and inertial quotient containing a Singer cycle. I've released three research papers, the first of which has been published in the Journal of Algebra. I also run a mental health charity called Wellspring, for which I manage an international team of contributing freelancers. For this I was nominated for several awards, and I won the University of Manchester's 2020 "Making a Difference - Outstanding contribution to social innovation" award, as well as the 2019 Manchester Doctoral College "Best Contribution to Society" award, which is given annually to one student, "who, in the opinion of the committee, makes an outstanding contribution to the social and economic well-being of our communities".
