I am particularly experienced in developing a commercially driven IP strategy for my clients, and supporting those gearing up for investment and seeking financial opportunities.As a patent attorney at HGF, working particularly with medical devices, culture systems, automotive parts and pharmaceutical cases, I draft, prosecute and advise on patent applications before the UK and European patent offices. My work is based around the exploration of polymorphism in NSAIDs using standard and extreme conditions (low temperature/high pressure), and how these relate to API development/formulation and intellectual property. I am required to grow appropriate crystals using a variety of techniques, analyse by single crystal x-ray diffraction, and solve/refine the final structure. During my work, I have also gained experience using high pressure techniques (using Diamond Anvil Cells, DACs) and low temperatures (down to ~9K). The course requires me to write a report, give a presentation and also assesses my work in a viva.
