My current position is not easy to truly define, and as such has had an odd effect on my desire to go into the software field. My job title defines my position as labor logistics, arranging and delivering products from the on-site warehouse such as printed matter, office supplies, and even beverages to offices across the property, including the Executive Office. My job has expanded greatly over the years, though I do assume my previous role when needed. My duties are now more commonly in the office, where I am the full time employee who handles mail, printed material and packages from off properly.While this seems straight forward, this involves working closely with management to organize the workflow within the department, as well as detective work when things like packages are not delivered on time or when a courier delivers to one of the other locations on property. It has taught me an interesting mix of organizational skills, problem management, and customer service since most pieces coming into our office deal directly with operations for hotel guests.One of the unlisted duties in my job has become low level IT. While our IT department covers major problems such as full system replacements, management has taken to using my skill set for things that IT doesn't support. These include tasks like updating the Access databases used in the office and maintaining the various courier software. Whenever one of our systems starts showing bugs, I check the system to see if the problem needs IT's support or if it can be corrected at our level, as is often the case. I am also usually the interface between IT and management when things do need to be escalated.
