Built a new team with a mandate to improve the trading experience on the platform from an API perspective.

Responsible for the availability, security, performance, and maintainability of the API layer. When not committing code, I provided technical perspective and estimates while engaging in planning and prioritization discussions with business, product, and engineering stakeholders. I led the engineering effort that brought KYC to the BitMEX platform achieving an 88% automatic decision rate during the release.

As one of the inaugural members of the API team, I invested my time understanding how the APIs of a crypto exchange doing $7 billion in volume a day were built and maintained. My responsibilities covered the all aspects of engineering from Product Development, Reliability Engineering and Incident Response, Technical Customer and BizDev Support.

Designed and built a real-time communications platform backed by PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Node.js, and Pusher.Implemented an event driven messaging service on top of existing RabbitMQ / Mailgun infrastructure.Replaced above infrastructure with PosgresSQL notify, SNS, and Lambda to provide the same functionality at greater cost efficiency and scalability.Created and maintained React components in the internal component library. Maintained documentation and developer playground in Storybook.Iterated on developing an agile and reliable release cycle which included technical design, resource planning, implementation, design review, release management, and retrospectives resulting in a team reputation across the company for producing the highest quality work.Mentored engineers by providing technical feedback, pairing on complex features, challenging them by providing hints not answers, having them shadow me while on call and making myself approachable for questions at all times.Organized and led the DevOps guild which improved engineering quality of life by developing the internal tool suite.
