Aside from the improved health, sense of safety, and sense of community of the members, OpenMat has itself been a vehicle for impact. It was through OpenMat that I launched Fight Like A Girl not only ran free women's self-defence workshops for more than a thousand women, but aims to make free and affordable women's self-defence accessible to every woman in the world by 2030. However, even if every woman in the world knew how to defend herself, why would we accept a world in which she had to? And so we also launched Fight Like A Man which ran workshops for boys and men discussing gender-based violence, healthy boundaries, and purpose-based manhood.
