In my current role at Big Sky Studios, I am responsible for solving all on set lighting queries across all fourteen studios that Big Sky operates. This requires me to work with clients to ensure that they can fulfil their creative desires and create the images they require. Because of this role I am very knowledgeable of studio photography, especially lighting, enabling me to attain high end results. Anything from flash photography using Profoto, Broncolor or even Briese, to continuous set ups using Arri, Creamsource or Aperture heads.

Adjacent to any fulltime role, I frequently fulfill freelance roles. Most notable of late is my work as a first assistant with COS within their ecommerce studios. Here I work closely with the photographers and videographers to create ecommerce content that adheres to the brand and its aesthetic for all online product photography.

Most recently I was working as an English Teacher in South Korea. I have always wanted to explore different countries and cultures. The COVID pandemic, and the lockdowns that followed, pushed me to realise this even more. Although teaching English seems removed from media industry, I do believe that this role has given me invaluable experience and knowledge applicable to any given job role. Here I have learned how to adapt and immerse myself within a different society to that of my own. I have conquered the task of moving abroad and working with new systems, languages and people. My view of the world has expanded considerably, and I would eagerly pursue the opportunity to live and work in yet another country again. Better yet, I have made sure to maintain a connection with the world of production through the use of film photography. Through this medium I am regularly practicing my camera skills at their most fundamental level. I am editing and curating my images within the Adobe creative suite. And, I am collating and building a portfolio to be shared through social media.

Throughout my time with Bauer Media, I was the sole Automotive Videographer and Editor. Here I was able to put all of my knowledge and hands on practice to the test in a completely different environment to that of my previous roles. I was responsible for all video content being produced for ‘CAR Magazine’ and ‘Parkers’; both are large scale media outlets relating to cars. The majority of content was published on their YouTube channels, however, social media content and the likes of Apple News+ covers came under my creative control also. Within this role I was responsible for everything; pre-production, filming (including directing, sound and lighting), post-production, and publishing of content. I worked from beginning to end of each and every project. I gained crucial experience behind the camera in all sorts of conditions (up mountains, in the pouring rain, in scorching heat on a track etc.) and vast experience of the editorial process within a large cooperate setting. Furthermore, it allowed me to travel to a number of different countries in order to film the latest cars, something that I would love to replicate in my next role.

Throughout my final year at university and after graduating I worked for Kemosabe Film Company as a videographer and edit assistant. This varied from filming and editing social media content, through to assisting behind the camera and editing larger productions. I have worked on a vast number of different shoots, ranging from working within London to produce content for Everyman Cinemas, to events in Paris for Patron Tequila. When working with Kemosabe I gained an abundance of experience on professional commercial shoots, acquiring an understanding of the professionalism and quality required to build a name for myself within the field of media production.

Camp Livingston, Indiana, U.S.A

Through the Camp America agency I was employed by Camp Livingston, a Jewish overnight summer camp, for the 2016 summer period. Here I juggled the role of camp counsellor as well as videographer/photographer. I would consider the summer of 2016 to be one of the most fruitful experiences of my life. Not only did I have to apply myself to multiple roles, I also had to become a custom to the Jewish religion and way of life during my time in America. My day to day tasks included: looking after a group of children, organizing and running activities, producing a minimum of 200 photographs a day, uploading all material to a secure/private database and presenting media material to the entire camp. Apart from an abundance of character building and improving my work skills. I believe the Camp America experience is most valuable in enhancing my versatility within different and diverse situations, such as being abroad and affiliated with a different religion.
