Hurricane Katrina leveled and washed away the clubhouse, pro shop, and event building. Over 250 majestic oak and pine trees were uprooted on the property. A new proshop and clubhouse were built on the property and operated for a few years but could not overcome the debt service and the property was eventually sold to a residential developer from Florida in May 2020. The 50 acres on the South side of the railroad tracks is zoned for single family residences. The 79 acres north of the railroad tracks is zoned for single or multifamily dwellings.
