Elmo Kebour is an accomplished director, cinematographer, and editor hailing from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. His passion lies in telling character driven stories across all genres that resonate with people, especially those of African descent.Elmo’s journey began at the New York Film Academy (NYFA), where he honed his skills in directing and cinematography. Over the next three years, he flourished within a diverse community of aspiring filmmakers from around the world. Together, they not only mastered the craft but also learned the art of collaboration.In 2015, Elmo graduated from the filmmaking program, followed by successful completion of the cinematography program. After graduating, he continued to contribute to the NYFA community by teaching Cinematography, where he imparted his knowledge to students following the same program he had graduated from.In 2017, Elmo relocated to Los Angeles, where he seized the opportunity to contribute to a feature documentary chronicling the community activism of Nipsey Hussle in South Central LA before his untimely passing.During the global pandemic, Elmo had a unique opportunity to work as a behind-the-scenes photographer for the Academy Award-winning live-action short film “Two Distant Strangers.” Capturing the essence of the production process, he witnessed the magic unfold behind the camera. Elmo’s journey continued as he stepped into the role of post-production supervisor at Betterdays Media. Collaborating with high-profile clients—including Nike, Shopify, and Ford Motor Company—he ensured seamless editing, visual storytelling, and impactful content delivery.Elmo is currently directing a documentary about the rise of the South Sudan National Basketball Team, making it his feature-length directorial debut.
