Sloterplas // Amsterdam

Hotel Buiten is an initiative of Overtreder W and Tijdelijk Gebruik to create a temporarily hotel on the two islands at the Sloterplas. We give people the possibility to sleep in lodges which are completely autarkic and designed with residuals.The start of the project was this year with Cafe Buiten, a place where people can drink a cup of coffee with a view at the Sloterplas. But also a place to organize events, dinners, musical performances etc. The coming year we will work on realizing the first lodges and possibility to discover this beautiful part of Amsterdam.

I initiated the research project "Disorderly Groupbehavior in Public Space". Together with the faculty of Sociology of the Vrije Universiteit and the master " School for Missing Studies" we are looking at this topic from two possibly interrelated perspectives: Social-psychological and Architectural. The students are conducting theoretical and field research to discover how these two perspective relate and possibly influence each other.
