Senior consultant at Fathom Pacific. I have recently joined the Homeward Bound community and I am committed to becoming a more strategic and visible leader as part of this global initiative and leadership program. My main goal is to raise awareness, and increase knowledge of the marine biodiversity of the Great Southern Reef (the Southern coastline of Australia). I finished my PhD at Deakin University in 2017. I took on different positions at Deakin for the past 11 years: sessional academic, communications and project manager at Deakin's Blue Carbon Lab, casual research fellow. I led the implementation of a citizen science program, Spider Crab Watch, aimed at understanding the ecology of one very iconic species of the Great Southern Reef - the Giant spider crab. My research interests include ecology, ethology, conservation, human-wildlife interactions and science communication.

Phd Student Working On Seabird Foraging EcologyDeakin University May 2013 - Jul 2017Région De Melbourne, AustralieMy PhD was aimed at investigating the foraging ecology of different seabird species, and in particular their individual specialisations. I used data loggers and tissue sampling to establish whether instrumented individuals had specific strategies in terms of diving behaviour, spatial use and diet. I looked at the timescales over which behavioural consistency is maintained and the link between foraging behaviour and mating. My three model species were the little penguin, the Gentoo penguin, and… Show more My PhD was aimed at investigating the foraging ecology of different seabird species, and in particular their individual specialisations. I was under the supervision of John Arnould at Deakin University (Burwood Campus) and I collaborated with French researchers from the Centre d'Etudes Biologiques de Chize. Show less -

For the past 2 years, I have volunteered as the Melbourne Coordinator and been responsible for curating the lineup of talks, securing venues, and leading a team of 50+ volunteers to ensure more people can learn about science in a relaxed and enjoyble way.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Pint of Science 2020 events had to be cancelled. Instead, we had to quickly develop a plan to keep delivering science to the general public and switch to hosting online events within a few weeks. I coordinated #ThisIsMyScience, a virtual event on Twitter and Instagram where scientists had the opportunity to present their work online using posts and engaging imagery. The event trended on Twitter. It not only gave a platform for researchers to present their work and for the public who get to know the scientists behind the latest discoveries, but it also allowed the organisation to gain exposure and followers on social media.
