I manage all projects through our fast flowing and busy joinery and paint workshop. By monitoring daily workflow, material costs, and freelance resources, I am constantly in control of project budgets and programmes. Using Monday, an online project management tool, I track all projects in intricate detail; this information feeds through the project lifecycle from the moment we receive a client brief, through design, procurement, build, and developing into a final detailed load and install document for every event.

I provided a bespoke glassblowing service for the teaching and research laboratories at the University. I worked closely with researchers, and the engineering departments, to design and manufacture innovative technical glassware. I managed all projects that came through the department, working to client deadlines, tracking department expenditure, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring the safety of workshop equipment.

I saw all projects through from concept design to client handover; I created and managed production tracking databases, identified and resolved risks before they became an issue, managed scheduling and organisation of resources. I managed several projects for institutions such as the Museum of London and Science Museum, as well as supporting existing international clients remotely. I built strong relationships with wider teams, suppliers, and subcontractors. I managed project programmes and technical drawing releases, attended design handover meetings both internally and with clients. I chaired production meetings, coordinated procurement, and collated project documentation.

As the key link between our design team, suppliers and production teams, I supported the smooth running of the design department. I was a filter for technical drawings, checking quality and accuracy before release into our workshops. I am always looking for ways to develop systems to improve efficiency: I built a database which allowed me to track the design workload and output based on project deadlines and allocated hours. This enabled me to pinpoint bottlenecks, reallocate work, and highlight gaps in training.

As Glassblowing Operations Co-ordinator for Yorlab, a supplier of bespoke glassware I co-ordinated on projects from enquiry to despatch, communicating regularly with clients, creating technical drawings using Sketchup and liaising with suppliers and colleagues to keep track of sales and purchasing schedules using SAP Business One. My organised approach enabled me to manage a large and extremely varied workload, and I put into place better working practices and logical filing systems to improve the efficiency of the department.

I started as a Trainee Glassblower and progressed to the title of Scientific Glassblower within two years. I worked under the guidance of the Head Glassblower, and in accordance with a bill of materials and technical drawings to manufacture and repair scientific glassware. This was my first position in a manufacturing environment and I learned the importance of paying close attention to detail and taking care of every task undertaken. In this role I learned how to create artwork using CorelDraw; I kept control of the departments stock, reordering goods when necessary as well as the daily production of engraved glass. I also developed a daily maintenance schedule which ensured good care was taken of the machinery used in the department, cutting down on annual repair costs.
