As the Retention Coordinator at the Cape Breton Island Centre for Immigration, I played a pivotal role in supporting international students through the International Students Retention Program. Notable achievements include:-Coordinated the successful 2021 Hello Cape Breton Multicultural Festival, resulting in a 20% increase in newcomer and international student attendance. This collaborative event promoted cultural diversity and community engagement through international art, music, and cuisine.-Established strong community connections by organizing quarterly Orientation Tours for groups of twenty international students. These tours facilitated introductions to county/municipal officials, potential employment prospects, and recreational activities across Cape Breton counties, enhancing their overall experience.These accomplishments reflect my passion for supporting international students and promoting community integration. I am proud to have contributed to these initiatives during my tenure.

My responsibilities within this role include collaborating with administrative teams and coordinating volunteers to streamline all aspects of student-body engagement. This includes event management, budget assessments, off-campus housing and third-party programs. Additionally, I actively train and supervise volunteers with a focus on cultural communication standards. I consistently evaluate volunteer performance and provide hands-on mentorship to improve performance.Lastly, I provide administrative support through database management, and routinely act as a proctor for language tests and evaluations to communicate progress and roadblocks to senior management.

Throughout this brief experience, I assessed client needs through frequent communication and customized station set-ups. I also monitored customer subscriptions and trial dates and up-sold subscription services to drive company revenue.

During my time in this role, I provided direct support to the international student body, communicating between the union and students while advising on available programs and services that would best enhance the student-body experience.Additionally, I managed international student events, scheduling third-party participants while coordinating numerous volunteers, assigning and supervising all duties throughout the event. I then assessed event success through organized meetings with union representatives, strategically planning future events.
