Because of COVID-19 and evolving needs of the company, I began my full-time role at ARA with their multifamily asset management team. In this position, I was responsible for overseeing more than 700 units across 3 MSA's and working with property managers to handle daily operations. I was also involved with leasing activity, capital budget programs, and all operations including renovation, maintenance, and rehabilitation and on-going management.

Worked with the Acquisitions team and assisted in the analysis and underwriting of potential investment properties. I gained exposure to the four main asset types in all major markets within the United States and utilized Argus and robust financial Excel models. Furthermore, I helped the team by compiling market data, participating in the due diligence process, assisting with Investment Committee memos, and using my construction background to review and compare construction specification sheets. I also spent a rotation with the Portfolio Management division to better understand the research and strategy which drives a $7+ billion fund sponsored by ARA.

I worked with the preconstruction team in the Special Projects Division on projects ranging from $500,000 to $5,000,000. Technical competencies developed during this internship include document control, trade-specific quantity takeoffs, and sub/vendor outreach. I now feel confident reading, navigating, and accurately interpreting plans and specifications and can understand a typical level of detail at each design phase. Soft skills required for this role include attention to detail, effective communication, and time-management.

Worked for CBRE National Partners, CBRE’s five leading investment teams across the United States, that has transacted over $114 billion totaling over 2.2 billion square feet. Increased team efficiency by editing and analyzing marketing materials, maintaining SalesForce database, and preparing market analysis for numerous active deals. Participated in a homeless initiative project that received county-wide attention and proposed a plan that could provide shelter for 80% of the homeless population in City District 1 of Los Angeles.
