Elsa Melo was born in Porto in 1991, graduated in Cinema and Audiovisual at Escola Superior Artística do Porto, she acquired a master's degree in Artistic Studies, in Museology and Curatorial Studies, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of University of Porto, and subsequently began to build its path in painting and drawing autonomously and spontaneously.The artist admits to have as main inspiration the neo-expressionism of the 80s, the legacy of the painter Jean Michel Basquiat, African masks and Outsider Art. She shows a great interest in the exploration of various materials and introduces a clearly innovative form of expression. Here, theappropriation of Pop culture and the presence of several characters as questioning engine related to what is, nowadays, the relevance of the consumerism, the system and social positioning.Also worked as a cultural producer, art assistent and curator.
