I have always worked in jobs where I can directly interact with people and as a result have a wealth of experience dealing with the whole range of emotions from worried, furious or just unable to know what to do next. I am empathetic, kind and couteous, whilst maintaining a professional approach and solving the problem. My first job following my degree was at the Central Statistics Office in Newport where I analysed data and specialised in the shipbuilding industry. I continued to work in the civil service whilst living abroad until I joined the Nationwide Building Society and became a financial consultant gaining my MLIA (dip), later moving to a company which specialised in helping people with bad credit gain a mortgage or loan, without horrifically high interest rates.I then had 2 children who are now grown up and this precipitated my move to Copythorne Infant School, which is where both my children attended. I have an enhanced DBS check and my own car with a clean driving licence. I also have first aid and fire marshal qualifications. Since joining I have implemented new technology which now means that our communications with parents are all via one app, which has hugely reduced our carbon footprint and costs. This has come into its own in the Covid pandemic and has meant that we are ahead of the game in keeping in touch with parents, especially when sorting out keyworker status and parent evenings. I trained the admin workers in the other schools in our federation at top speed to use the system and am still their backup if they get stuck. My daughter is autistic (now studying A levels) and I believe that this enables me to look at things in a different way and come up with solutions to sometimes complicated and emotive problems. I have had to learn to unpick issues and have the patience to stay calm and keep trying different resolutions to stay on track, all with a smile. To be honest this is also the case with my main hobby which is adopting and fostering rescue labradors. Luckily I live in the beautiful New Forest and enjoy walking for miles, to calm my dogs and reset my brain !
