During my high school years, I have orchestrated leadership skills, being part of the blood donation team and mobilizing pupils to donate blood as well as writing my own play and directing it. In university, I provided mentorship for nursing first year students and additional support for first year research student relating to applied methodology.In 2010, I started my career as a qualified social worker at the Department of Social Development as a generic social worker in one of the gangster affected areas in the Nelson Mandela Metro. I worked with children, older persons, people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, disabled people, families, women as well as people using substances for the next seven years until 2017. I had to render prevention services, early intervention services as well as statutory intervention services to the diverse client and/or client systems.I worked after hours in situations where needed and performed my duties with much care, passion, commitment and empathy towards the clients whom I served. I never backed down to a challenging situation and tried to resolve it to the best interest of the clients.In 2017, I was moved to another team and gained experienced with governance, functions and legislation governing Non-Profit organisations in South Africa. I worked with daycare centers also known as early childhood development centers for a further five years. I learned a lot about early childhood development during these years. I had to monitor these centers with regard to funding received from the Department of Social Development as well as the service they provided to the communities. I had to guide and capacitate the managements of these centers where needed. I guided these centers according to the guideline provided by the department but with an assertive approach combined with compassion. During these five years I learned a lot and capacitated myself when needed to be able to give accurate and true information to the people I served.My passion is child protection especially educating adults about processes and procedures to report child abuse and neglect. I did a lot of after-hours work during my last year in service. My biggest passion is to work with children and to ensure children have an amazing childhood. I had to work on have worked 12 years at the Department of Social Development which formed part of the local government in the Nelson Mandela Metro.
