My research focuses on criminal justice sentencing policy, including implementation of policy reform, racial and ethnic disparities in sentencing outcomes, effects of criminal record expungement, and reentry from incarceration. I teach US politics, public policy, and research methods.As SCU's Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, I earned a reputation as an effective communicator, deep listener, compassionate and trusted team-builder, and creative problem-solver.
