As the Head of Department, I run a number of cultural heritage development projects with strict observance of UNESCO WHC decisions and recommendations to ensure that the proposed development projects do not have adverse impact on the site heritage. My main duties include the followings:Site management - Run Icherisheher’s cultural heritage development projects from beginning to completion: During my tenure, the projects I directly run or involved in the implementation: Inauguration of new Tourism Centre, Restoration of Baku Khans Palace Complex and Installation of History museum in the recently restored facility; Restoration of Chains Building to serve as Baku Photography House; restoration of architectural building to serve as Baku Marionette Theatre, etc.- Lead the preparation of strategic documents such as Visitor Management Plan, Strategic Development Plan, update of Integrated Area Management Plan, Cultural Industries Support Document, etc. in line with UNESCO (ICOMOS) guidelines and requirements; Sustainable heritage development - Ensure an appropriate and equitable balance between conservation, sustainability and development, so that Icherisheher (Walled City of Baku) as a world heritage property can be protected through appropriate activities contributing to the social and economic development and the quality of life of our communities;- promote adaptive re-use of heritage buildingsSite Promotion:- Promote the site and its OUV (outstanding universal value) through technology, community involvement, celebrating traditional practices, empowering museums, documenting intangible heritage, conserving cultural landscapes, recognizing culinary heritage, developing the site’s awareness and its importance to the community;Reporting - Supervise reporting on the state of conservation to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee (WHC);- Lead the preparation of periodic reporting to the UNESCO WHC.

As the Cultural Heritage Projects Manager, I worked on projects of varying scales, for a diverse range of cultural heritage projects and in a variety of national and regional historic contexts. My main duties were organized under four distinct categories: Assessments (preliminary, HIA, etc.) of the heritage site: - Preparation of and contribution to heritage statements, desk-based assessments, statements of significance, research studies and consent applications;- Undertake site inspections including setting assessments;- Conduct heritage impact assessments (HIA) before initiating development projects; Conservation Designs Review:- Monitoring the designs that are undertaken by contracted designers for selected cultural heritage sites;- Reviewing each submitted output and making recommendations to the Board. Ensure that the designers’ recommendations are well described, efficiently and scientifically supported, objectively corroborated;- Ensure that all outputs are finalized by the designers according to the feedback provided by the Artistic Committee in line with the UNESCO WHC decisions and recommendations;Liaison, partnerships and collaboration:- Collaborate with all stakeholders, including, architects, designers, local residents and businesses, government agencies, National Focal Point for UNESCO, National UNESCO Commission, UNESCO’s specialized institutions (ICOMOS, IUCN, ICCROM, etc.) to achieve positive heritage outcomes;Reporting - Prepare progress reports, heritage impact assessments for development projects;- Prepare SOC (State of Conservation) report, Periodic Report, Report on the Implementation of UNESCO HUL (Historic Urban Landscape) Recommendations and submit for approval by the Board before submitting to UNESCO WHC - Regular communication of internal and external partners on the state of conservation of the site, sustainable development challenges through presentations, reports, and publications.

Lecturing European Cultural Policy, Research Methods for Bachelor, Master and PhD students

I worked as a research partner for the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany) in the following projects: 1. Cultural diplomacy in the context of foreign relations (2011-2013); 2. Cultural policy as a soft power in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy (2014-2015);

As the project specialist, I worked as team member of "Azerbaijan Competitiveness and Trade" Project with the following duties: Help navigate the various government and other bureaucratic frameworks necessary to clarify issues regarding barriers to business environment and to offer solutions; addressing administrativebarriers that prevent entrepreneurs from starting businesses and obtaining long-term leases; supporting international experts in providing comments and recommendations to improve domestic business-related legislation.

As a Field Assistant in the BTC/SCP (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan/South Caucasus Pipeline) Community Investment Project, Implemented by International Rescue Committee (IRC), my duties were to assist Community Investment Program’s Field Coordinator through: contributing to the development of CPA (Community Participatory Assessment) reports; producing CPA reports in English and Azeri; cooperating with CPA team members in producing essential information for CPA and improving the tools for information collection; writing all CIP monthly, quarter and annual reports, correspondences; completing all CIP administrative services and any other tasks assigned by the Coordinator.
